Rooted is built on a simple premise: the more honestly you show up, the more useful the output. We hold your data to the same standard. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
We collect your name, email, assessment answers, and , if you opt in , your WhatsApp number and chat history with our AI companion. We use these to run the product and improve it. We don't sell your data. We don't run ads.
What we collect
When you use Rooted, we collect:
Your name and email address, provided when you sign in via Clerk.
Your 18 assessment responses. Used solely to generate your identity profile. Not shared or sold.
Optionally provided during onboarding. Used solely to send your daily task and EoD check-in via WhatsApp. Never used for marketing. You can skip this entirely.
Your conversations with the Rooted AI companion are stored in our database so the chat persists across sessions. You can clear your chat history at any time from the chat page.
If you subscribe, Razorpay processes your payment. We store your subscription status and period dates , not your card details. Card data never touches our servers.
Anonymous behavioural events tracked via Posthog. No personal identifiers attached.
Standard server logs: IP, browser, pages, timestamps. Retained up to 24 months.
How we use it
We use your data to:
- Generate your identity profile using the Anthropic API
- Authenticate your account via Clerk
- Send you daily tasks and check-ins via WhatsApp (if you provided your number and have an active trial or subscription)
- Improve the product using anonymised survey responses and usage patterns
- Send lifecycle emails (trial reminders, re-engagement) via Resend , you can unsubscribe from these in your account settings at any time
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
We do not use your assessment answers to train AI models. We do not run advertisements. We do not sell your data.
Third parties we use
How long we keep it
We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active, plus up to 24 months after closure. Usage and server logs are retained for up to 24 months. You can request deletion at any time.
Subscriptions and payments
Rooted offers a Rs 499/month subscription after a 7-day free trial. Payments are processed by Razorpay. We never see or store your card details.
Your subscription status (active, cancelled, trial) and period end date are stored in our database to gate access to paid features.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period , you keep access until then. We do not offer refunds for partial months, except where required by law.

Your rights
You can:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time

Children
Rooted is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Rooted evolves. We will notify you via the app and by email before material changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version.
